Youth Debate on One nation -One Vote

District-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament Organised in Koraput

The District-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament was successfully organized by Government College, Koraput, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), and the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.

The event was graced by Sabyasachi Jena, Tahsildar of Jeypore, as the chief guest. Among other dignitaries present were Manoranjan Pradhan, NSS Programme Coordinator of Vikramdev University, the District Youth Officer of NYK, and the Principal of Government College, Koraput.

A total of 170 students from Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur districts uploaded their one-minute videos, out of which 150 students were selected for the district-level event , Mr. Pradhan said . Each participant was given a maximum of three minutes to speak in Odia, Hindi, or English. The top ten participants from the district event will proceed to the state-level competition, to be held in the Odisha State Assembly. Subsequently, three students will be selected to represent Odisha at the National Youth Parliament in New Delhi , Mr.Pradhan added.

The Youth Parliament, a visionary initiative by the Prime Minister, aims to provide a platform for the youth to actively engage in nation-building. Discussions focused on ‘One Nation, One Election’, urging young minds to deliberate with an open and analytical approach.Deepak Patnaik , principal of Govt.College , koraput while addressing the gathering, emphasized the significance of youth participation, stating, “Every young individual must come forward for continuous development to shape a developed nation. This programme is set to ignite young minds.” He further added that Odisha, being the land of Lord Jagannath, symbolizes unity in diversity, under whose spirit the youth must work effectively for the progress of the motherland.

The two day long event is being held  with a strong message of youth empowerment, highlighting the role of young leaders in shaping the nation’s future. The participants were sharing their independent opinion on whether the nation should go for “One nation –One Vote” or not .
