Koraput Cultural Society (KCS) in association with Odisha Natya Sangh organising a South Odisha Zonal Theatre Festival in its campus at Koraput . According to Subhakant Padhy , secretary of Odisha Natya Sansad who has arrived at Koraput today , in total 15 theatre groups from 7 districts of Southern zone of Odisha would be taking part in the festival with their plays . While on the first day plays by theatre group from Baliguda and Sunabeda will be staged the 8 day long theatre festival would keep the audience spell bound with the performance by top ranking theatre groups from the zone . This theatre festival was the first one in the series of four zonal level theatre festival that was to be organised at different places in the state , Mr.Padhy added. Koraput has been a hub of theatre experimentation, producing notable writers, actors, and directors while good number of theatre festivals organised at KCS in Koraput in addition to Deomali Natya mahotsav at Damanjodi , Parab theatre festival at Jeypore and similar festivals in Sunabeda over the years have been providing them to present their work on the stage . These festivals and events play a pivotal role in preserving and promoting the theatrical traditions of Odisha, offering platforms for artists to engage with the community and celebrate cultural narratives. In addition to this organising theatre festivals at grassroots promotes Odia theatre among masses while nurtures hidden talent which otherwise could not have seen the light , MrPadhy said .
