Students of Schools managed by S&ME Dept. in Odisha had got their summer vacation a week ago while the schools managed by SSD Department were asked to keep students in the hostel till further instruction . However while children and teachers in SSD Schools were waiting for a letter from department like the one they had received last year to send students on 30th April in a similar situation , according to officials there was no letter issued by the department on sending the students home so far this year . Hence students would stay in the school hostel upto 5th May as per the annual calendar , officials added . I wondered if the students were feeling happy to be in the hostel without any special recreational programmes or camps to keep them engaged while their friends in other schools were already back in the streets , mountains and valleys of their village spending their time with games in the nature . When a single minister in Odisha could handle two departments for the last many months I wonder if schools of two departments could be merged together to be managed better under one department .
